A Positive State of Mind

*groan* I know it seems as though positivity or at least the notion of it is everywhere these days, but I honestly believe it is the key to a happy, successful life. fullsizerender-24

I cannot deny that I get into serious funks myself and think, ‘positivity smositivity’ (especially since being injured) BUT the more positive you are on a daily basis the easier it is to get out of these funks…

So, through my personal experience these are a few things which help get me into a positive state of mind:

  • Surround yourself with like-minded/positive people. If you have positive energy around you it’s much easier to bounce off of it
  • Take some time out. Allocate yourself some serious ‘me time’. No matter how busy you are, if you take 5 mins for yourself to do something you want to do, it will completely shift your mood
  • Focus on the present. There’s no point in worrying about the past/future as you cannot change it. All you can do is put all of your energy into the here and now and you’ll achieve far more
  • Breathe. This is often something I forget to do. I’m not talking about the bog standard necessary respiration which we continuously need to do to survive, but to take in a few deep breaths in and out to rid any anxiety
  • Embrace your flaws. We all have them, embrace your own and accept others. No-one is perfect
  •  Have fun. Remember to let go of your everyday worries. It’s really easy to become stuck in a routine and believe you have absolutely no time for anything, but you need to remember to take a time out and enjoy yourself. You’ll return to your everyday far more refreshed
  • Find what you love. It really is that simple, follow your passions and you’ll feel much more fulfilled

Advice is sometimes all well and good, but it’s often slightly more difficult to try and put into practice, so here are a few things which I turn to in order to restore my state of mind:

  • Reading. It sounds simple but sometimes it’s one of the best things to take you away from your own little bubble
  • The Law of Attraction Audiobook by Rhonda Byrne- this can be downloaded from iTunes into your iBooks library. Byrne focuses on how you can take control of your own reality fullsizerender-25
  • Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. Adriene is one of my favorite Yogis as she injects fun into her videos, yet still leaves you feeling a new sense of calm. What’s even better is that you can do it from the comfo
rt of your own home and adapt anything and everything you need to along the
way. It’s also a perfect way to get in some stretching when you really don’t feel like doing it on your own
  • Bloggers/YouTubers perhaps this one was inevitable, however I find by gaining inspiration from others I feel a new sense of calm injected into my life.  One of my favorite YouTubers at the moment is Chriselle Lim
